Using technology and social media in my teaching

Recently, I have also incorporated the use of technology, creativity, and social media in my courses. I believe that popular technology, if used well, can engage students in learning.

Examples of learning through visual manifestation and use of cell phones: This way I can assess in a non-traditional way, how students incorporate in their creative image, the knowledge they have obtained during class discussions, readings, explanations etc.

Trios: Students need to work on a picture composition with 3 natural elements (trio) and incorporate a learning reflection.

“Selfie”: students need to work on pictures in which they feel immerse in space and context, and demonstrate the learning from the course. Selfies don’t necessarily have to show their faces on them, but a representation of themselves on the picture. If students feel comfortable they can also post in social media with an informative or impacting message that reflects their learning.
